Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR) is the acetylated form of L-Carnitine. By using the acetylated form, L-Carnitine can be made much more bioavailable and allow it to cross the blood-brain barrier much more efficiently.
Carnitine is primarily found in animal products like meat, fish, poultry, and milk.
While ALCAR is most commonly known for its ability to support energy and cognition, it has shown to provide noted support for lower ammonia, blood glucose regulation, and blood flow. ALCAR has also shown to effectively reduce the amount of mitochondrial damage and oxidative stress commonly seen alongside chemotherapy, carpal tunnel syndrome, and diabetic neuropathy.
